Today, I'm thrilled to bring you an exciting upcycled shoes project that will transform your knee-high cowboy boots into personalized fashion statements.

Let’s get started!

Tools and materials:

  • Knee-high cowboy boots
  • Acrylic paint (black)
  • GAC 900 mixing medium
  • Paintbrushes
  • Hair dryer or iron for heat setting
Prepping boots

1. Prepping your boots

Give your boots a thorough cleaning to ensure they're free from any dirt or debris.

Mixing paint

2. Mixing your custom fabric paint

We'll be turning regular acrylic paint into fabric paint using the GAC 900 mixing medium.

Combine equal parts of black acrylic paint and GAC 900 to create your custom fabric paint blend.

Applying paint

3. Applying the paint

Carefully apply the paint to the boots using a paintbrush. For a flawless finish, apply thin, even coats.

If you're aiming for a more solid look, allow the first coat to dry before applying a second layer.

4. Let it dry and heat set

Let your boots dry for a full 24 hours. This time ensures that the paint sets completely, preventing smudging or transferring onto surfaces.

To heat set, you can toss your boots in the dryer on a low heat setting for about 30 minutes or gently iron them.
