Styling 2021 Spring Outfit Must-Haves From Old Navy
And just like that, Spring has sprung and it’s time to bust out those spring outfits! It seems like just last week we were fighting the bitter cold temps here in Texas, and I’m already over here trading my snow boots for sandals and swapping out my chunky sweaters for dresses and lighter layers to create a long-awaited spring outfit.
And, if you’re anything like me, you’ve had quite the amount of spring fashion ads run across your phone and computer while browsing the internet. I see you, Banana Republic Factory and Old Navy! From raffia hats to rattan bags, strappy sandals to floral prints, I'm loving the spring fashion, but I'm also trying to be mindful of buying trendy vs. making what I have in my closet work for the season.
It can be tempting to jump on the latest trend (looking at you, bright tie-dye and puffy shoulder sleeves) after seeing them left and right on your feed, but I’m constantly trying to remind myself to be more cognizant of my wardrobe and how the item will REALLY fit into my curated closet. Not just how it will look now, but how will it pair with what I already have?
When I narrow it down to the few things I REALLY can use in several ways with my current wardrobe, I feel so much less guilt shopping each season.
So, for spring 2021, I decided on adding the following versatile, timeless pieces from Old Navy to my wardrobe:
- A neutral printed swing tank for layering
- A smocked midi tank dress with pockets
- A fitted, distressed denim jacket
I wanted to share with y’all a few ways I’ve already styled these items, as well as a few inspiration collages on my outfit board for this season*.
*Tip: use an app like Pinterest or Stylebook to keep collages of outfits made out of items you actually have in your closet! When you're needing inspiration on outfits, visit those apps to "shop your closet" for outfit pairings you may have forgotten!
Keep in mind as you’re scrolling the below: you don’t HAVE to have every single item here, but you likely have something close to it. I tried to be mindful of sticking to neutral items that most will likely already own: a classic chambray shirt, a pair of white jeans or denim shorts, neutral sandals, and a canvas tote. The idea here is to utilize what you already have in your closet and find those “would be nice” items you keep wanting to reach for that you can put on your list for seasons to come.
