DIY Quote Iron-on Elbow Patches

Is there anything better than upcycling your clothes, it’s great for those clothes you are a little bored of or perfect if you want to wear something that can’t be bought in the shops. I received these iron-on elbow patches from Korbond recently and as soon as I saw them I knew I wanted to add a quote to them.

What you will Need

• Iron-on Elbow Patches
• Cricut cutting machine
• Glitter Iron-on Vinyl
• Heat Press or Iron

How to Make

Choose your quote, I went for the quote ”Only in the darkness, can you see the stars” I split the quote in half so it can be read across both elbow patches. I used one of my favourite Cricut fonts A Frightful Affair, typing out the quote section and resizing it to fit in the centre of my elbow patches.

I made some stars to go around the quote, create the biggest star you will use and duplicate until you have the quantity you need. Highlight all those stars, duplicate and while still highlighted drag to shrink the size. Repeat once more so you have 3 sized stars.

Send your design to cut. REMEMBER to mirror the design when using iron-on. I used Silver glitter iron-on for the quote and gold for the stars. Once cut, weed your design ready to place on the elbow patches.

It is important you do not heat-press your vinyl onto the elbow patch until you are adding them to your jumper as the bottom of the elbow patch is glue, heating it will just stick it to your surface. Instead cut out your elements and layout your design on the elbow patch, the excess transfer tape will hold them in place.

Pre-heat your heat tool then place your elbow patch onto the arm fabric, I measured where my elbow comes on my jumper so I could get them as even as possible. Press your elbow patch and quote onto your jumper, read your vinyl instructions to know how long to press the vinyl for and whether to cool or warm peel. As mine are glitter I had to cool peel.

These easy quote elbow patches can be modified to feature your favourite quotes and designs, you can mix up the colour ways depending on your outfit choices. The elbow patches made by Korbond are very lightweight and soft, you hardly notice them once added to your clothes but they will add a special element to your outfit.
