Cut out the front leg pieces
In this step, cut out the front leg pieces on two layers of fabric, using a pair of jeans or comfy pants as your pattern. Remember to add seam allowance as you cut.
Cut out the back leg pieces
Then go ahead and cut out the back leg pieces on two layers of fabric as well. Don’t forget that seam allowance!
Cut out the pockets
Use your hand as a guide and cut out four pieces of fabric for the pockets.
Cut out the waistband
Next, measure and cut a strip of fabric to make a waistband.
Cut the bottom leg cuffs
In this step, measure the bottom of your sweatpant legs and then go ahead and cut out two strips of fabric that will fit as cuffs on the bottom of the legs.
Separate the leg layers
If you cut the front and back pieces on the fold, go ahead and separate the layers by cutting down the side.
Place the front and back leg layers together
Next, take the front and back leg pieces and place them right sides together.
Attach the pocket inserts
Place the pocket insert between the front and back layer, 1.5 inches front the top of the leg.
Pin and sew the pocket insert in place, Repeat this on all four leg layers.
Sew the side seams and inseams
Then go ahead and pin and sew the side seams including the pockets and the inseams of the legs.
Sew the crotch seam
Place one leg inside the other, right sides together and pin and sew the crotch seam.
Attach the cuffs
First, fold each cuff over, right sides together and pin and sew the ends together.
Then fold the sewn cuff in half, lengthwise, and pull it over the leg of your pants making sure the raw edge of the cuff is at the bottom. Match up the seam of the cuff with the seam of the pants, pin the cuff in place and sew.
Attach the waistband
Fold the waistband in half, right sides together. Pin and sew the ends together.
Then fold the fabric over lengthwise and attach it to the top of the pants in the same way that you attached the cuffs. Have the raw edge facing upwards and match up the back seam of the pants with the seam of the waistband. Pin and sew around.

Trying to make a mix of these and my daughter’s fav joggers, she’s been sick for awhile with mono so want to try and cheer her up! I’m rather rusty on sewing and my machine isn’t working, so this should be interesting!
