Turn a Pillowcase Into a Top!
In this DIY, I’m going to show you how to turn a pillowcase into a top.
I love taking unconventional items and seeing how I can use them to make clothes or accessories, so obviously, this project was right up my street.
Keep reading to see the finished result!
Tools and materials:
- Furry pillowcase
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Elastic
- Pins
1. Remove lining
Cut all of the linings off of the back of the pillowcase. You can use a seam ripper for any hard-to-remove sections.
2. Cut
Cut the pillowcase in half diagonally to form two triangular sections.
3. Sew
Sew the raw edge to tidy it up. (We only need one of the triangles for this project).
4. Pin and sew elastic to top
Pin the midpoint of your elastic to the triangular point of your top and fold the point over.
Proceed to pin elastic to either side. Then sew the elastic down.
Turn a pillowcase into a top
Simply tie the elastic at the top behind your neck and the elastic at the bottom behind your back, and you have a gorgeous fluffy top!
This is a stunning piece to wear to a party. Who would have believed that this started off as a pillowcase?
