Transform a simple piece of fabric into the cutest no-sew cover-up.

If you’re going to a pool party or simply want something new to wear over your bathing suit at the beach, this is a great DIY.

Best of all, this garment doesn’t require any sewing.

Tools and materials:

  • 1-2 yards fabric
  • 1-2 yards trim
  • Fabric glue
  • Scissors
Buying supplies

1. Get supplies

Go to the fabric store and buy yourself a couple of yards of fabric.

You’ll also want to grab a couple of yards of trim. I went for a bright, summery yellow and white cotton fabric and a white pom pom trim.

Cutting fabric

2. Fold and cut

Fold your fabric in half. At the closed edge of the fold draw a semi-circle in the center for a neck hole.

Cut along the semi-circle to open the neck hole.

Gluing

3. Decorate and finish

Use some fabric glue to attach the trim to the edges of the garment.

Then attach the sides of the garment to each other to give it a little shape.

Gluing

Glue about 6 inches in from each side.

Don’t forget to leave openings for your arms.

How cute is this cover-up? I love it so much. I definitely would have bought this if I saw it in a store.

I love that I was able to make it myself for a fraction of the price of ready-made clothes.
