Hey, guys! I have a really simple hair tutorial for you. It’s perfect for summer when you need to get your hair out of your face. It’s a very romantic, bohemian hairstyle called a pull-through braid, which is essentially a Topsy Tail braid without using the Topsy Tail hair tool.

This beautiful, twisted hairstyle looks very complicated, but it’s absolutely not and I’ll show you how you can do it!

Tools and materials:

  • Hair elastics
Sectioning the hair at the top

1. Section the crown of your hair

Start by taking a section of hair from your crown and tying it off with elastics.

Pulling hair through the ponytail

2. Pull hair through your ponytail

Then, split the hair above the elastic down the center and pull the ponytail through it to create a twist.

3. Section the front of your hair

Take two sections from the front of your hair and pull them back into another ponytail. This ponytail will be on top of the previous one, but it will lie below it.

4. Pull hair through the front ponytail

Now repeat what you did with the hair on your crown; flip the ponytail through a split to create a twist.

5. Repeat until you reach the end of your braid

Do the same steps with the rest of your hair, taking two small sections, tying them together, and pulling your ponytail through them until they’re all stacked.

Pulling hair to the front to work on it

If you can’t reach the back anymore, it’s okay to pull your hair to the front to work on it but be sure to do it in the opposite directions, so your braids are all the same.

Tugging at the braid

6. Tug at the braid

Once you reach the end, start tugging at the sections. Make sure to target the ponytail and the sections to make it as big and messy as possible. That’s going to give it the romantic, almost French braid look.

Pulling everything down to cover the elastics

I also like to pull everything down so the elastics are less noticeable when they’re closer together.

Wrapping the end of the braid

7. Wrap the tail

Wrap a section of hair from the tail around the last hair elastic so it’s hidden and pin it to the braid with a bobby pin.

You won’t be able to see the bobby pin at the back of the braid, and it looks a little nicer from the front.

Pulling out hair at the front

8. Pull out hair from the front

Pull out a couple of pieces of hair in the front to make it messier and romantic from the front as well.
