How to Make Quick & Easy DIY Flower Hair Clips Out of Fabric
In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to make a DIY flower hair clip. The clip is really straightforward to make and won't take very long. You’ll come away with a gorgeous hair accessory that is great to wear or give as a gift. Let’s get started!
Tools and materials:
- Paper
- Fabric
- Mesh fabric
- Scissors
- Glue gun
- Decorative bead
- Crocodile clip
- Scissors
1. Cut templates
Cut two petal shapes out of your paper (I’m using colored post-it notes). You want one of these petals to be bigger than the other. These two petals will act as your templates.
2. Cut the fabric
Take some fabric and fold it into a square. Then take your smaller petal shape on top and proceed to cut around the petal.
Proceed to do the same with your larger petal piece - fold some fabric into a square, place the larger petal on top and cut around it.
3. Repeat the process
Open up your two fabric pieces, and they will look like this. Then, repeat the process six more times (three times with the smaller petal and three times with the larger one) so that you end up with eight cutouts in total.
4. Cut the mesh fabric
Now take some mesh fabric and, once again, cut out eight flower pieces with it (four smaller flowers and four larger ones).
5. Glue the pieces together
The next step is to take a glue gun and place a little bit of glue into the center of a small flower fabric piece. Then take a small flower from the mesh fabric and press it on top.
6. Fold and glue
Then fold the flower in half, glue it and fold it in half again. Repeat this process with all of your small flower pieces, and then do the same with all of the large flower pieces.
7. Connect the pieces
Next, glue the sides of the pieces so that you can connect them all together. Do this for the large flower first and then for the small flower.
8. Stick one to the other
Once done, apply glue to the middles of the large flower and the small flower and stick the small flower on top of the large one.
9. Stick bead on
Now place glue in the middle of the small flower and stick a decorative bead in the center.
10. Attach the clip
Finally, place glue at the bottom of the large flower and stick a crocodile clip to the bottom.

Here are the finished clips, and as you can see, I’ve made a pink one here as well. The great thing about this DIY is that you can customize the clips using different colored fabrics and a different bead in the middle to create the design that you want.

How did you keep the material from unraveling? This is a cute idea, these could be made into fascinators.
