Cut strips

I used a towel material for my makeup headband, and I think it's the best fabric to use in this case. Start by cutting two long strips of fabric, 70x9 cm (27.5x3.5 inches) each.

Next, for a cleaner look, round off each of the short ends by cutting semi-circles, as shown. Fold the strip in half when cutting.

Assemble the makeup headband

Layer the strips on top of each other, right sides facing. Stitch all around the edge, leaving a 5 cm (2 inch) opening.

Then, turn the DIY makeup headband inside out by inserting your fingers through the opening.

Next, stitch all around the edge of the makeup headband, including the opening.

Add the velcro

Cut a velcro piece 9 cm (3.5 inches) in size and sew each piece on either side of the basic makeup headband. Pin the fluffy side of the velcro on one end.

Place the other part of the velcro on the back of the other end, as shown. So basically, there should be a velcro piece on either end and either side of the makeup headband.

Stitch both velcro pieces in place.

There you have it, wasn't that simple? You now know how to sew a makeup headband in 3 easy steps. This would also be a great gift idea! Now you can wash your face, put on makeup, or even remove makeup without having to fuss about your hair getting in the way. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!
