How I Styled It: Gauze Separates
Cotton gauze is a popular summer fabric but with hotter temps carrying into early fall, I am not quite ready to put these pieces away. Silhouettes in cotton gauze are crisp but comfy, casual but polished and very easy to mix and match with other pieces in your closet. Cotton gauze is traditionally white, but bright and neutral color pieces are readily available this year, from button downs in pops of color to wide leg drawstring pants in muted neutrals. My favorite pieces this season are white - a button down with roll up sleeves and drawstring joggers - both from cabi clothing's Spring 2022 line.
The button down top has a sleeve with a button tab which makes it easy for it to be a topper. Paired with a pop of color tee and coordinating white gauze shorts, it makes a great set which is also a popular trend right now.
Cotton gauze is usually seen in a wide leg pant, but this season the jogger style was having its moment. Paired with a lightweight cotton knit, the joggers are a great relaxed pant option and work well with any type of lightweight knit (especially over a tank) for a day to night look.
For warmer days, a basic tee is a perfect match with the joggers especially in a bright color. For a more casual chic look, add a graphic or concert tee and some fun sneakers.
Heading into fall, the white button down pairs perfectly with denim - either cutoffs or crops for a work at home day or a football Saturday. The collar style on this shirt is also great for showcasing a favorite necklace stack.
Wearing these the two pieces together for a jumpsuit effect was a little risky but in the end, found it to be a comfortable but fun outfit - perfect for that late summer barbecue (skip the sauce lol) or cocktail gathering. Changing up the shoe gives this pairing a lot of options and is an overall cool breezy look even when temps are still blazing.
My favorite way to wear the button down top is over a white tank with a pair of bright linen crops. A braided leather belt ties the top and bottom together with a little texture. It's the quintessential coastal grandmother vibe and a look that will easily take me all the way through fall.
