Casual Ways to Style Trousers

A classic pair of trousers can be the perfect way to level up your style. While they go great with a matching blazer, sometimes you may be looking for a more laid back look. In this tutorial I will showcase several ways that I've worn my favourite pair of trousers that are perfect for more casual outings and events.

This silky button up is a great way to look really stylish and professional while still being able to head out after work for a fun activity. I styled this silky button up shirt using the French tuck method (also known as a half-tuck). My watch made for a great accessory, and I really enjoyed having a variety of textures in this outfit.

Monochromatic looks are really growing on me. I built this entire outfit around the chocolate brown colour of my trousers. I'm wearing a simple ribbed tank top and have worked the matching leggings into a shrug (let me know in the comments if you would like me to share how I did this!). Both of these pieces are from the brand Parade, which makes the softest fabrics ever (they sell undergarments, pajamas, loungewear, and everything in between)! Feel free to use code melissaradford to save if you order anything from Parade! This look could also be easily achieved with a long-sleeved bodysuit as another option. I usually keep my accessories pretty simple when I style trousers because I love to make them the star of the outfit.

Matching with the earthy tones around me, I paired this beautiful sage green short sleeved top with lighter coloured pants. I like the contrast this created, then I also added a brown bag to stay true to the earthy tones. The bag is actually a makeup bag that comes free with your first order, so here's a link to my favourite bronzer from Merit Beauty! This look was paired with nude heels and is the perfect transitional look from day to night. Simply pack a sweater or blazer as a layer for a daytime/work outfit, then remove that piece for a night on the town. I love having the ability to repurpose an outfit and it also saves me from packing a huge bag for the day.

Before signing off, I wanted to share with you a few of my favourite trousers in case you would like to add some to your lineup:

  1. the Effortless Pants are number one on this list for good reason
  2. the Yasmin Pants are super flattering, note: they do run slightly large so I always size down
  3. these Pleated Pants are raved about for their comfortable fit

These tips can be used to style pieces you already own or you can shop similar products to what I've used using the links in the text.
