In this lookbook, I’m going to show you how to style over-the-knee (OTK) boots.

OTK boots are trending right now, so I’ve put together some different ways that you can wear them in fall and winter. I've got two different pairs and ten outfits, so let's get started.

All-black outfit

1. All-black

The first outfit is the classic all-black. It's the easiest way to look put together with minimal effort.

I paired a mini turtleneck dress and sheer black tights with these black over-the-knee boots. Over the top, I threw on a long drapey coat. Whenever I wear all black, I feel super classy.

Monochromatic look

2. Monochromatic

The next outfit is monochromatic, and like all-black, when you wear only one color, it looks very intentional.

I found all the dusty rose-colored clothing in my closet, and this is what I came up with. A knit sweater with a knit skirt and a chain belt.

Jeans outfit

3. Jeans outfit

Now let's get a little more casual with another classic: jeans. Dig your skinny jeans out of retirement because they are the easiest denim to get into these boots.

I went with a high-waisted dark wash pair, black boots, and this beautiful, oversized turtleneck. This is a classic look for fall, and you could easily throw on a long jacket for winter.

Leggings outfit

4. Leggings outfit

Another casual way to wear over-the-knee boots is with leggings.

You can take the summer staple of leggings in a crop top and easily dress it up for fall or winter by adding some over-the-knee boots, a warm jacket, and some warm accessories.

Although the boots are pretty statement, the leggings bring it back to an everyday look.

Shorts outfit

5. Shorts outfit

Shorts aren't really where your mind goes when you think about cold-weather fashion, but shorts and dress shorts particularly go really well with over-the-knee boots.

I chose a silky high-waisted pair with cut-out lace details and layered them over some tights for warmth. I added a sweater and gathered and tied it with an elastic to crop it, and I really like how this outfit came out.

Mini skirt outfit

6. Mini skirt outfit

Mini skirts, or just mini hemlines in general, are my favorite way to wear over-the-knee boots. Throw on a chunky knit cardigan, and you're set.

I paired this black mini dress with a waist belt to break it up a bit and then layered on a floral cardigan because the colors went really nicely with the boots.

Midi skirt outfit

7. Midi skirt outfit

I read somewhere that you shouldn't wear over-the-knee boots with midi skirts and that just made me want to do it more. This is probably my favorite outfit in the whole lookbook.

I just took a floral midi skirt with a high slit and paired it with a half-tucked baggy sweater and, of course, the boots.

If you’re going for a midi-skirt, definitely choose one with a slit in it as this will reveal the boots beneath.

Long sweater/jacket outfit

8. Long sweater/jacket outfit

The next idea was made popular by the beautiful Ariana Grande, and it's basically to look like you're not wearing any pants.

You put on a really long sweater that covers your bottom and pair it with over-the-knee boots. Another way to do this look is with an oversized jacket or blazer.

I chose a faux leather blazer because it's super warm. I think the jacket makes for more of a mature look than the sweater, but both looks are super cute.

Summer dress outfit

9. Summer dress outfit

I really like the idea of wearing a summer dress as a winter item. It's a good way to get more versatility out of your wardrobe.

The sundress and over-the-knee boot combination could really work by itself for spring or summer but layering the dress over a thick turtleneck and some tights make it work for fall.

I think this outfit would also look really cute with a long black jacket and a black hat for the winter.

Tunic outfit

10. Tunic outfit

The last way to wear over-the-knee boots is with a long shirt or tunic.

When you think of tunic, you probably think of that basic 2010s outfit with leggings, a scarf, and probably a pumpkin spice latte. There's nothing wrong with that outfit, but tunics and long shirts are so much more than that and can definitely be made into a modern look.

I like to wear mine like a dress but layered over a mini skirt for the extra length.

How to style over-the-knee boots

I hope I’ve given you some inspiration for how you can style your over-the-knee boots.

Also remember girls, OTK boots don’t have to be black. Feel free to try out a pair in another color. My dusty pink ones are quite a muted and neutral shade which means that they go with lots of different things.
