Do you have a blazer that you love, but the fabric has gone all bobbly?


No need to throw it away. In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how you can revamp and recover your blazer.

Tools and materials:

  • Blazer
  • Denim
  • Scissors
  • Pins
  • Sewing machine
Cutting denim

1. Cut denim

Start by cutting some denim that is the length of the front of the blazer.

2. Cut pockets

You also want to cut out a pocket piece as well.

3. Repeat

Repeat for the other side.

4. Pin to blazer

Trim the denim down to size so it fits the blazer perfectly, and then pin it to the blazer.

Pin the pockets to the top as shown.

5. Add pockets 

Then, pin pockets to the body of the jacket.

Sewing

6. Sew

Proceed to sew down where you’ve pinned, gradually removing the pins as you go.

Here is the finished blazer - as you can see, I also sewed on a denim belt around the waist. There are so many things I like about this piece.


The first is that the denim covers up all the bobbly material on the blazer, so I still get to enjoy the blazer, but it’s been redesigned.


I also love the different shades of denim in this look as well as the symmetrical design.
