Here’s how to thrift flip a crochet table runner into a statement top in two easy steps.

The cloth needs to be wide enough to cover the front of your body. You can use a folded full size tablecloth if you prefer a more covered look.

Tools and materials:

  • Crochet table runner
  • Safety pin or small claw clip
  • Matching ribbon or narrow elastic
  • Long-sleeved blouse (optional)
Holding table runner up

1. Neckline

Hold the table runner up in front of you.

Pin or clip one of the short ends behind your neck and adjust to make a flattering collar.

Tying behind back

2. Tie

Thread the ribbon or elastic through each side of the tablecloth at bust level.

Tie it securely behind your back.

3. Style

You can wear the top just as it is.

For an asymmetrical look, tuck one side under the ribbon so you pull the top to one side.

If you prefer a more modest outfit, wear the blouse closed.

This backless top looks great with a skirt or pants and you can dress it up or down.
