How to Make an Adorable DIY Flower Scrunchie That Looks Like a Peony
Scrunchies don’t need to be boring! In fact, they can really spruce up your style and outfit. Take this flower scrunchie, for example, it’s so easy to make, and it looks really unique. In this quick peony scrunchie tutorial, I’ll show you how to make a DIY flower scrunchie in no time!
Get your materials ready, and let’s get the show on the road.
Tools and materials:
- Organza fabric
- Elastic
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Thread needle
- Measuring tape
1. Make the hair tie
To make the hair tie part of the scrunchie, start by cutting a 2 x 30-inch strip of organza fabric. Then, fold it in half and sew with a straight line to secure it.
Then, using a crochet needle, turn the strip inside out.
With the help of a safety pin, feed elastic through the strip.
It should be the size of your wrist.
Tie the elastic and snip off the ends.
Then, sew the short ends together with the fabric.
This is what it should look like.
2. Make the flower
Now, it’s time for the flower scrunchie! Just like the small elastic, cut a strip that’s 5 x 50 inches.
Fold it in half, then stitch along the raw edges.
Turn the strip inside out.
With a safety pin, insert a piece of elastic and tie the ends.
Cut the excess elastic.
Instead of sewing the short ends together with a machine, sew the opening by hand with invisible stitches.
Now, pinch the fabric from either end of the DIY flower scrunchie and place them together. What you are doing is closing the center.
Then, hand stitch the layers.
3. Attach the flower to the scrunchie
Next, attach the hair tie part to the flower scrunchie.
