How do you get old stains out of clothes naturally?

The best way to ensure you successfully get stains out of clothes is to treat the stains right away. But if you do end up with an old stain, it is possible to get it out of clothes naturally.

I have used Young Living's Lemon Essential Oil to get old, washed, dried, set in, pen marks out of a white cotton shirt. (Sidenote: lemon essential oil is also great for removing permanent marker from cabinets, doors, walls and even furniture! Don't ask me how I know.)

But this DIY stain remover is a perfect way to attack old stains and remove them from clothes naturally. Simply roll this natural stain remover onto the stains and let it sit overnight. Then wash on cold. Repeat this process until the stain is completely gone before putting your clothing in the dryer.

How can I get stains out without bleach?

It is possible to remove stains from clothing without bleach. Hydrogen peroxide is a wonderful, natural and color-safe alternative.

When you combine hydrogen peroxide with lemon essential oil, thieves household cleaner and thieves laundry soap, you get a killer combination that knocks out stains without using bleach.

I wanted to add one note of caution though. Hydrogen Peroxide is typically fairly safe but can have interactions that it is important to know about.

Please note that Hydrogen Peroxide can lighten and brighten fabrics, so it can be great for removing stains. But it can also act similarly to bleach and "bleach" fabrics, so you need to be careful with it.

According to this website, hydrogen peroxide, if mixed with certain metals or if exploded to heat can have explosive properties.

Which means, I would NOT recommend putting this in a roller bottle with a metal top. The roller I have linked below does not contain metal, and I have never ever had any issues with it. But if hydrogen peroxide is exposed to metals, it can cause an explosive response. So please be careful friends.

You should also store this in a cool, dry please away from direct heat, light, and away from air vents because heat can also change hydrogen peroxide and cause an explosive response too.

Hydrogen Peroxide is a great alternative to bleach and a great way to help remove stains naturally, but as with all things, please be careful and follow all instructions and cautious of all products you use.
