Make a Summer Bag With a Target Placemat
It’s quick and easy to make an adorable summer bag to match any outfit with just three items.
It won’t hold much, but is perfect for your phone and a few lightweight items.
Tools and materials:
- Target placemat
- Matching 1 inch ribbon
- Fabri-Tac glue
1. Supplies
You’ll need a $5 100% cotton flexible placemat from Target (or a similar store).
Make sure it’s large enough to use when it’s folded in half. I like the ones with the trims at the corners.
Add some matching 1 inch wide ribbon. And you’ll also need Fabri-Tac or a similar glue.
2. Fold and glue
Fold the bag in half widthways.
Run a line of glue down one of the side seams and place the other edge on top. Press firmly.
Do the same on the other side.
3. Add ribbon
You’ll need two lengths of ribbon, each double the height of the bag plus enough to make a handle.
Starting at the bottom of the bag on each side, glue the ribbon about 1 inch from the side edges on one half of the bag.
Leave the ribbon in the middle free as a handle.
Repeat on the other side of the bag.
Leave the glue to dry.
