Easy Makeup Tutorial: How to Apply Highlighter for Mature Skin
In this tutorial, I’m going to show you how to apply cream highlighter for mature skin. This includes how I like to wear it and where I like to wear it and how the highlighter pen works.
The makeup I’m using is from the Look Fabulous Forever range, made specifically for mature skin. However, you can achieve the same results with any brand of makeup.
Tools and materials:
- Highlighter pen
1. Apply highlighter in a C-shape around your eye
Click the highlighter pen twice. This should bring enough product forward. This highlighter isn’t glittery or shiny. Instead, it gives you a radiant look and has a natural, luminous finish.
When applying, some people like to slide it on, but I just dot all the way around my eye in a C-shape so you’re hitting the top of the cheekbone and the brow bone.
I’m also doing this after I’ve got the rest of my makeup on.
2. Apply highlighter to your crevice
Next, we’ll apply in the deep crevice, or the laugh line, around our nose and mouth that we all get as we get older.
It gets deeper and because of that, it’s dark so we’re going to lighten it to bring it forward. Use the highlighter to just lighten that darker part of the crevice.
3. Apply highlighter around your lips
I also like to apply it around the top and bottom of my lips.
You don’t have to do the whole lips. You can do just the Cupid’s bow if you want to.
4. Apply a highlighter to your nose
I also like to put a couple of stripes down my nose.
5. Pat the highlighter in
What highlighter does
Highlighter flattens out some of those lines quite nicely and gives you a nice shape and luminous finish without the glitter or the shine.
We don’t want it to glitter or shine. We just want it to help lift.
What happens with the highlight on your cheekbone is, when you’re just chatting and moving your head, it slightly catches the light, and it helps lift that side of the face alongside the blush you’ve got on your cheekbone.
