How to Get a Thick Ponytail
Does your ponytail look wimpy and short, with areas of thinning?
Today, I’m going to show you how to get a thick ponytail. This trick that I discovered gets a lame ponytail looking big and full in no time. Let’s get started!
Tools and materials:
- Clip-in extensions
- Scalp foundation
- Elastic hair bands
- Hair cream
- Hairbrush
- Curling iron
- Ribbon (Optional)
1. Section hair
First off, I’m going to section off the top of my hair and make a bun at the very top of my head. Then, I tie the upper-back section of my hair up in a ponytail using a small hair elastic.
2. Add clip-in extensions to ponytail
Next, I’m going to take a bunch of clip-in extensions and add them to the ponytail at the back of my head.
Make sure you use extensions that are a similar length to your natural hair, otherwise they won’t blend in nicely.
3. Brush hair over the extensions
Next, I’m taking down the bun at the top of my head and adding cream to the front section of my hair to make it look slick.
Then, I’m brushing everything backward, over the extensions to camouflage them, and tying it all back in an elastic band.
Already, my ponytail looks so much longer and fuller.
4. Curl your ponytail
I recommend curling the ponytail to help blend the extensions in with your natural hair.
5. Add ribbon
As an optional step, you can also add a ribbon to your ponytail like I did.
6. How to apply scalp foundation
Now it’s time to go in with scalp foundation. This is a really easy way to make your hair appear thicker.
I simply brush the scalp foundation onto any areas of my hair that look a bit sparse. Ideally, you want to use a really dense brush for this step.
