How to Make a Pretty Bead Pendant
In this bead pendant tutorial, I will teach you how to make two kinds of pendants: one with a big bead and one with little beads.
Making DIY pendants is so easy, and a great way to get creative. You can use these pendants on chains to create necklaces, bracelets and more. You’re only limited by your own creativity!
Tools and materials:
- Large and small beads
- Head pins
- Round-nose pliers
- Wire cutter
1. Make a large-bead pendant
With a large bead, you need to check that when you thread your head pin through the top-to-bottom hole in the bead, it doesn’t go all the way through.
If it does, then put a small bead on the end of the head pin, preferably one that matches your large bead, to act as a stopper.
Insert the head pin into your large bead from bottom to top (the stopper should be at the bottom.)
Cut the wire above the bead to the size you will need to make a loop at the top, the size you need.
Use your pliers to bend the wire 90 degrees in the middle.
Now, use your pliers to make a loop from the wire. The closer to the end of the pliers you place the wire, the smaller your loop will be. So, if you want a larger loop, to accommodate what you will put your bead on, place the wire farther from the tip of the pliers.
Then, twist the wire a few times, making a secure loop that you can use to hang your pendant on a chain or rope.
If you end up with a loop that isn’t really big enough to keep the loop from actually hitting the top of the bead, then you can add a split-ring.
2. Make a small-bead pendant
For this pendant, I will use three small beads: two of equal size and the third bead larger than the other two.
Thread your small beads onto your head pin and then cut and loop the wire as you did with the large-bead pendant.

Here are the two completed pendants. That was so easy!
Now you are a pendant-making machine, so you’re ready to express your creativity. Have fun, combine multiple pendants, and make unique pieces for yourself and as gifts for your friends and family.
