Learn How to Do 3 Pretty No-heat Hairstyles for Christmas
Christmas is loads of fun, but it can also be a little bit stressful, so I’m going to bring you three easy holiday hairstyles that are super quick and easy.
These are no-heat hairstyles, so they require no heat at all! Let’s get started.
Tools and materials:
- Hair elastics
- Hairpin accessory
- Bobby pins
Heatless hairstyle 1: Low bun
1. Do a low ponytail
Pull all of your hair back into a low ponytail by brushing it back and making sure everything is nice and smooth. Place the ponytail just above the nape of your neck.
2. Pull the ponytail down and make a hole
Pull it down just a bit so you can poke into it and make a hole that goes through it.
3. Pull your ponytail through the hole
Pull the ponytail through the opening you just made.
So, put your fingers through from the bottom of the hole through to the top, grab your ponytail, and pull it through.
4. Repeat
Repeat step three by pulling your ponytail through again. This is the start of your bun.
5. Tuck away the tail
Depending on how long your hair is, you can do this once more after this or you can just tuck the tail away underneath the bun or slide it into the center.
My hair was long enough to go once more, so I pulled it through and pinned the tail underneath the bun with a couple of bobby pins.
Here’s the finished Christmas hairstyle.
It’s a really pretty, sleek low bun that looks so elegant but takes very little effort.
You wouldn’t be able to tell how easy this was to do, so this is the perfect hairstyle for the holidays.
If you want to up the fancy level of this, you can add a hair accessory like a hair comb you can just stick into the bump on the top.
That gives it a little bit extra and makes it look super chic.
Heatless hairstyle 2: Dutch braid
1. Part your hair to the side
Start with your hair in a side part. You can choose to incorporate bangs or leave them out if you have straight-across bangs as I do.
2. Separate your hair into three sections
Take any section of hair from the top of the part and divide it into three separate sections to start the braid.
3. Begin braiding
The front section will go underneath the middle section and then the back section will go underneath the middle section.
Then, add a bit of hair to the front section. Do this for a couple of folds, going down the side of your head.
4. Tug on your braid to enlarge it
Once you’ve reached the stopping point, grab onto the hair so the parts are still separated into three strands and secure.
Then, tug on the sides of the braid to make it really large. This is going to make it look different from your typical Dutch braid.
5. Repeat steps 3-4
Continue braiding around your head and fluffing the braid as you go until you reach the nape of your neck on the other side.
6. Finish the braid and tie off
Incorporate the last of the hair into the braid and then tie it off with a hair elastic just underneath your ear.
7. Hide the hair elastic
Take a small strand of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the rest of the ponytail to hide the hair elastic so it looks more polished.
Pin down by sliding a bobby pin through all of the hair you just wrapped.
8. Frame the face
Pull out face-framing strands on both sides.
Here’s the finished holiday hairstyle.
Heatless hairstyle 3: Top knot
1. Put your hair in a high ponytail
Start by making a ponytail right on top of your head.
2. Backcomb the ponytail
Take a comb and backcomb it until it’s a giant ball of fluff. Use big strokes to cover the whole ponytail quickly without tangling.
3. Twist the ponytail into a bun
Smooth out the outside of the ponytail and then twist it into a bun.
While pinning, don’t push the pin too far in so you squish the volume. Keep the pins near the perimeter of the bun instead of trying to get them as near to the elastic as possible.
Here’s the finished holiday hairstyle! You now have a voluminous but sleek top knot.
