Best Way to Make a DIY Denim Mini Skirt

I love how easy making this skirt is! It’s the perfect way to upcycle old jeans and have a really cute bottom for the warmer weather. Take a few minutes out of your day and watch this DIY denim skirt tutorial. You won’t regret it.
Tools and materials:
- Jeans
- Ruler
- Chalk
- Scissors
- Thread
- Pins
- Sewing machine
Cut excess fabric
Start by cutting your jeans to a shorter length. Next, use scissors to cut across the inside seam of the legs. This should leave your jeans open in the middle.
Cut middle seam
Cut a few inches along the middle seam of the pants (both sides!). The goal is to be able to fold the left side of the pants over the right without having any bulking.
Pin, pin, pin
Once the left side is laying nicely over the right use pins to secure the denim in place. Remember to do this on both sides.
Try and measure
With the pins securely in place carefully try on the skirt and mark off your desired length. Then cut carefully - you can save the excess fabric to fill in the triangle if you need.
Sew the seam
Using a straight stitch, sew along the seam of the skirt to finish!
I am so excited to wear this skirt! It’s an awesome option for those hot summer nights or paired with some tights for the crisp fall. This DIY denim jeans to skirt project is so easy and so useful. Nothing better than something versatile.
