In this stain removal hack, I'm going to show you a quick way to remove foundation or makeup, whether it's old or washed in from your clothes. Let's get started.

Tools and materials:

  • Dish soap
Placing dish soap on stain

1. Place dish soap on stain

Take a very small amount of dish soap and place it directly over the makeup stain.

I wanted to show you this on my white jeans so that you can see how it comes out absolutely.

This even works on stains of makeup that have been washed in and are months or even years old!

Rubbing water on

2. Rub water on

Dab a tiny amount of water on top of the dish soap and rub it in.

The key is to stretch the fabric over your knuckle so that you can really get that dish soap between the fibers.

The other key point is to use your fingernail to really work that into the fibers.

If you don't do this part, you'll find that the deep stain still is visible after a wash.

Washing clothing

3. Wash the clothing

If you've really worked it in, pop it into a wash.

Then when you take it out, you'll see that it completely comes out of your fabrics, even white ones.

And again, this does work on older stains as well, it doesn't have to be fresh ones. I hope this saves some of your clothes. If so, leave a comment!

This is not new. I have been using Dawn dish detergent for many years on clothing stains,

What if it's other stains & not just makeup? Would it work with old blood stains or wine, etc..

      Blood stains:

      • Hydrogen peroxide - Apply directly to the stain and allow to sit for 5 minutes. Blot (not rub) the stain with paper towel or clean cloth. Repeat as necessary. Then launder as normal.
      • White vinegar - Mix 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water. (Vinegar is an acid and doing this helps to reduce any possible damage to fabrics, especially delicate ones.) Apply to stain and let sit for 10 - 20 minutes. Blot (again, don't rub) and repeat as necessary. Launder as usual.

      Wine:

      • Mix together equal parts of dishwashing liquid and hydrogen peroxide. Pour over the stain and allow to soak in. You should be able to see it lighten almost immediately. After allowing mixture to soak in, launder as normal.

I only addressed those two since they were the ones you mentioned. Good luck! 😊
