Try this crazy-simple sweater upcycling idea to upgrade a basic piece from your closet. All you need are a few items for this no-sew DIY.

Tools and materials:

  • Loosely knit sweater
  • Ribbon
  • Safety pin
Adding ribbon

1. Insert your ribbon in the center

Attach a safety pin to the end of a thin ribbon. Then insert it through one of the holes in the top, middle portion of the front of the sweater.


2. Weave the ribbon to make a heart

Next, weave the ribbon in 3-4 spots to create one of the sides of a heart.

Continue to weave around the shape of the heart until you reach the starting point.

3. Adjust the tails

Pull the safety pin through and adjust as needed to make two equal tails.

Remove the safety pin and tie the ends in a bow. Here’s the final result of this no-sew DIY:
