This Updo is Perfect for Short Hair
Hi guys! This updo is perfect for short hair. I am so excited to share it with you.
It’s got a very cool, funky feel to it because it is a little messy. I love the 1980s vibe of the hairstyle.
Tools and materials:
- Hair product (spray or wax)
- Bobby pins
- Barrettes
1. Create some volume
You’re going to want to start by adding some volume and texture to your hair.
You can use hair spray or hair wax to help you achieve this effect.
Apply the spray or wax thoroughly through your hair.
Use your hands to really spread around the product and scrunch up your hair while you brush through it with your fingers.
2. Style
Flip all your hair to one side. This will help create the retro 1980s style of the look.
Leave the front section of your hair to frame your face and pull the rest of your hair back like you’re making a ponytail.
3. Twist and pin
Twist the hair around and up. Then tuck the ends of the hair into the inside of the twist.
Use bobby pins to secure the twist in place. I also added a couple of pretty hair pins with pearls at the end of them.
You can add any type of decorative pins or barrettes you like.

I love how the back looks messily pulled together. The side part with the hair out in the front gives the style such a cool style throwback vibe.
