This Fun Updo is Great for Short Hair

If your hair isn’t quite long enough at the back to put it all into a high bun, this might be the answer for you.


It’s also a great hairstyle for kids who will love this fun style. Let's get started.

Tools and materials:

  • Invisible hair ties
  • Comb
  • Hair clip
  • Bobby pins
Making a layer

1. Make a layer

Make a horizontal parting at the back of your head, level with about half way up your ears.


Clip the rest of your hair up out of the way.

Tie the bottom layer into a ponytail.

3. Make another layer

This time, make the layer just above your ears.

4. Separate it

Divide the layer vertically down the center.

5. Pick up

Divide the first ponytail in half.


Pick up the left side of the ponytail with the left side of the second layer.

Place a hair tie around the two sections.

Repeat on the right side of the hair.

6. Third layer

Make a third horizontal layer.

Tie it to the previous layer in the same way.


7. Finish it

Gather all the remaining hair together.

Wrap it with a hair tie, but don’t pull it all the way through.

Use bobby pins to tuck the loose tail into the base of the loop.
