I recently thrifted this bodysuit, and like any bad secondhand shopper, I didn't try it on first. I thought for sure it was my size, but as soon as I got the chance to wear it, it was WAY too big.

But we never let an up cycle opportunity go to waste, do we?

So here's how I got this cute off-the-shoulder top from a thrifting flop...

You may recognize this bodysuit from one of my recent blog posts where I turned an old dress into a cute tank top bodysuit.

The first thing I did was cut off the bottom clasps to use on another project.

The key to good up cycling is to never let parts of a piece go to waste.

The next step is to cut the bodysuit to the length you want your top. Then use a stitch down each of the side seams to make it fit properly.

All that's left to do is roll hem the bottom of the top to clean up all the edges and style the top in any way you please.

Don't forget, it's always better to up cycle a piece than to throw it away. Most items can be saved.

Oh, and don't forget to try on things before you leave the store!
