If you have embroidery thread sitting unused in your crafts box, you can DIY a simple pair of earrings in no time!

I’ll show you how you can create tassel earrings in just a few short steps. Let’s get into it!

Tools and materials:

  • Embroidery thread
  • Scissors
  • Fish hook
  • Jump ring
  • Pliers
Adding jump ring

1. Put the jump ring in the middle of the thread

Slide a jump ring to the middle of the embroidery thread.

Adding jump ring

It’s easiest to do this by bringing the paper wrapper to the bottom of the thread and bunching the end so it’s small enough for the ring to fit around it.

Then, you can take the paper off.

Folding thread

2. Fold the thread

Fold the thread in half at the ring.

Binding one end

3. Bind one end of the thread

Tie a small piece of thread about an inch below the folded edge with the jump ring.

Cutting ends

4. Cut off the end of the thread

Cut off the loose fold on the other end.

Loosening hook ring

5. Loosen the hook ring

Use pliers to loosen the ring on the end of a fish hook.

Attaching hook

6. Attach the hook to the thread

Place the hook underneath the jump ring connected to the thread.

Closing hook ring

7. Close the hook ring

Close the fish hook’s ring.

I like this idea. My daughter has a bunch of that thread in her craft box. I may have to make some with her.
