The Holiganza continues with a great DIY project that is a great gift for the holiday season!

This is a wonderfully moisturizing vanilla scented coffee body scrub that leaves your skin feeling baby soft, and it's perfect for any skin type! Follow along for this gift or stocking stuffer DIY.

Tools and materials:

  • Kitchen mixer
  • 1 lb refined cocoa butter
  • 1 lb refined shea butter
  • Vanilla fragrance
  • Ground coffee
  • Measuring cups
  • Bowl
  • A teaspoon
  • Regular tablespoon for mixing
  • Containers for storage (I used the 16 oz containers from the butters)
  • Scrapbook paper
  • Sharpie
  • Scissors
  • Ribbon
  • Metal paper fastener
Measuring the shea butter

1. Measure shea butter

Into your mixing bowl, add 2 cups of shea butter.

Highly moisturizing and chock full of vitamin A, shea butter is also great at healing the skin. So, it’s perfect for wrinkles and fine lines. It is gentle and non-irritating for sensitive skin.

2. Add cocoa butter

Add 1 cup of cocoa butter to the mixture. Cocoa butter is harder than shea butter, so it will provide some stability to the body scrub.

Now, blend with your kitchen mixer until smooth.

Blending cocoa butter

Like shea butter, cocoa butter is great for sensitive skin. It’s also high in antioxidants which fight the signs of aging, plus it is hydrating and helps reduce stretch marks.

It should take about 2 minutes to get to this creamy consistency. It should look like whipped cream.

3. Add coffee grounds

Next, add ground coffee to the mixture, one cup at a time, mixing in between before adding the next cup.

Adding coffee grounds

Coffee adds a nice aroma to the body scrub, plus the grounds work as a natural exfoliant that’s gentle enough yet strong enough to remove some of the dead skin cells.

You’ll be finished mixing once it becomes even and crumbly, and it should be this rich, brown color.

4. Add vanilla scent

Add 10 teaspoons of the vanilla scent into the mixture. You can use any fragrance, as long as it isn’t overpowered by the coffee scent and compliments the coffee aroma.

5. Put in a container

Pack the scrub into whatever container you will be storing it in.

I just used the 16 oz canisters that the butters came in. This DIY makes enough to fill 2 of these 16 oz containers.

6. Decorate the packaging

Draw out tags on scrapbook paper with a sharpie.

I’m writing the recipient’s name as well as what is inside the container: vanilla exfoliating body scrub.

Making tags

Then cut the tag out, inside the black lines and poke a hole at the top.

Now, wrap a holiday ribbon around the container and tie a bow.

Adding bow

Then snip a hole in the ribbon and affix the tag with a metal, paper fastener.
