Make This Cowl Neck Dress Without a Sewing Machine

Have you tried making a cowl neck dress? It's super easy, thanks to my no-sew cowl neck tutorial! You don't need to sew this DIY cowl neck dress because I've figured a way to make it a no-sew while not compromising the fashionable and glam vibe! You don't need many materials or tools either. I used a lycra fabric as it doesn't fray; perfect no-sew projects! Let's get this amazing tutorial started. Keep on scrolling!
Tools and materials:
- Chalk
- Scissors
- Measuring tape
- Lycra fabric
Fold your fabric
Fold your fabric in half and make sure all the edges and sides are equal.
Measure
From the fold, measure 5 inches down and mark that measurement.
From that 5-inch mark, measure 6 inches across and make a mark.
Then, mark 5.5 inches downwards; this will serve as the length of your armhole.
TIP -
If your arm circumference is wider than mine, then increase the measurements.
Here's a breakdown of the measurements so that you can understand the process. Also, watch my video from 1:30 minutes to see exactly how it's done.
For the width, measure 3 inches across. Bear in mind that this fabric is stretchy, so even if the measurements aren't exact, it will still fit.
Cut the armhole
Then cut a hole at the center point and cut an oval around the marks. Remember to cut it through both layers, so you have two armholes.
Wear and assemble your dress
Ok, so here's the fun and final part. Wear your dress and put your arms through the armholes. Now, take one edge of the dress and tuck it through the adjacent armhole.
Now make a tight knot with the end of the fabric on the armhole section, as shown.
Take the excess fabric and tuck it under the shoulder section.
Repeat the same for the other side; you should have a crossover on the front.
Next, wear a belt to finish the whole look. The belt will accentuate your beautiful curves and give the entire dress a lovely dimension.
That's it, guys! I told you it's simple to create! I love how something so easy can turn out looking so put together. This no-sew cowl neck dress is proof that sometimes you just need your handy pair of scissors to create something exquisite! I hope you enjoyed this cowl neck dress tutorial. Thanks for tuning in.

I don't understand the tucking? Is that tied? And where did it come from?
