I am amazed at the beautiful designs and ceramic crockery that ends up going into landfill and charity shops and garage sales are always full of these vintage crockery bargains!

I enjoy making a one of a kind piece of jewellery that is a keepsake treasure .

Unwanted crockery

I decide to use wheeled tile nippers and of course protective eye goggles to stop any flying china accidents. It’s really easy to cut through crockery china into smaller bits ready for shaping.

Cutting ceramic

I choose some lovely florals and interesting shapes that would ideally be nice jewellery pieces. Then I use the smoothing carbide stone grinding attachment onto a small rotary hand drill.

Rotary sander

I keep slowly Sanding around the pieces until I’m happy they are really smooth around edges and back ready to fix and drill for fixings. Best to wear a protective face mask to stop dust inhalation.

Next step is to use a diamond tip drill piece that is kept cool by dipping in water to prevent burning and slowly penetrate a hole into the ceramic .

it takes a patience but eventually ready to put in the bail and chain.

Drilling

Then it’s a matter of assembling the little silver bail into the hole just made and threading a nice silver snake chain on this one. Wow it’s looking beautiful and so unique!

Love that it’s a piece of treasure from past and worn as a keepsake.
