I recently went on a mini vacation and saw some gorgeous boho clothing and accessories! After looking at some of the expensive price tags, I thought; "How hard could it be to make some of these things myself?" Then I received the Boye Pom Pom and Tassel Maker and attended a maker workshop at CLFair with Boye/Simplicity's Michele Muska. She showed us how to use it and I was hooked. As soon as I got home I started using mine.

I sketched up some ideas, took a trip to Joanns Stores for trims, floss and grabbed $5 sandals from Five Below, the result are these Boho Style Sandals using the Boye Pom Pom and Tassel Maker with DMC Floss. Fast and easy, no sewing, just fabric glue.

First I will show you how to make the mini tassels using the Boye Pom Pom Tassel Maker. Then how to put all the pieces together to make these sandals. This machine is perfect for making pom poms and tassels for pillows, curtains, baskets, bags, clothing, shoes and more.

You will need 6 mini tassels for each sandal for a total of 12.
Directions For The Sandals

Step One
Apply fabric glue to one section of the sandal.
Start attaching the black mini pom pom trim to it.
Add another layer of the pom pom trim.
Repeat for the other side. Let dry. Then cut the excess Pom Pom trim off, secure with a dab of fabric glue to prevent fraying.
Step Two
Next layer the Boho trim over the Pom Pom trim using more fabric glue, cut to fit. Then add a dab of fabric glue to the ends of the cut trim to stop fraying and for extra security, let dry.
Step Three
Wrap the ends of the mini tassels around the sandal straps. Secure in place with fabric glue. Let dry.
In just a few simple steps, you can create some beautiful Boho style sandals and other cool accessories. Whether for the home or to wear, all you need is a base such as sandals, shoes, totes, pillows, tablecloths or furniture. Then locate some trims, embroidery scraps, jewels, yarn, floss and a good Pom Pom and Tassel Maker like the one I used from Boye to make the extra details.

I hope you were inspired by my latest project. Can't wait to see what you do. Come back soon for more fun ideas that you can do yourself!
Notes
  • The Boye Pom Pim and Tassel Maker costs around $19.99 retail at Joanns Stores. Try using a coupon for 50%, 40% or %20 to help with the cost, where applicable. You could comb the web for deals too.
  • Buying your own Pom Pom and Tassel Maker will help save you money on buying premade ones.  Make tons of projects with this!
  • The trims cost me under $5. I purchased Simplicity Trims at Joanns Stores and used a coupon for each.
  • I had left over floss from a DMC project I did, but floss is inexpensive at around 59 cents to $1.25 per floss. (Coupons people)
The Sandals cost $5 from Five Below, very cheap. You could try Target, Walmart, Dollar General or other Reasonable retailers for sandals that fit your style. Once you buy the maker. Future sandals will cost under $10 to make.

Is the maroon colored trim placed between the sole of the shoe and the inside of the shoe? Or is it just glued to the outside edge of the sole?
