I’m going to show you how to do a five-minute sleek ponytail on natural hair using bundles. I saw this sleek low pony before, and I thought it was so complicated to do, but then I gave it a try and realized that it is so easy, so cute, and I give it a 10 out of 10. Heck, I give it a 12 out of 10!

The hair I’m using is called a Brazillian natural wave ( Brazilian natural wave 26x3 with 20 frontal). Follow along to discover how to do a sleek ponytail with bundles, using this type of hair or a similar style.

Tools and materials:

  • Fine-tooth comb
  • Hairpins
  • Hair tie
  • Edge control
  • Tangle Teezer hairbrush
  • Toothbrush
  • Hair mousse
  • Two bundles of natural wave weave

1. Brush and straighten your hair

Part your hair in the middle and straighten only the two front sides. You don't need all of your hair straight - I'm leaving the rest of it natural.

Then, brush your hair with a hairbrush. I like to use a Tangle Teezer - it's the only thing that stops me from crying when my hair is super tangled!

2. Put hair in a low pony

Once done, put it in a really tight and small low pony at the back of your hair.

3. Apply some moisture

I'm using some Moisture Infusion Edge Control. The hold is really strong and it sleeks my hair back. Next, I'm going to take a strong wooden toothbrush with thick bristles and use it to comb in the cream and remove any excess.

I'm also going to use some Hydrate Shape and Style Mousse. This keeps my hair flat and sleek, and gives it a shine that matches the hair extensions that I'm about to use. I'm going to rub it into the roots and top of my hair.

4. Wrap hair in a silk scarf

Once done, wrap your hair in a silk scarf and keep it on for 10 minutes. This helps set the hair sleek and straight while the products work their magic.

5. Tie into a bun

Next, you need to get the smallest bun that you possibly can in the back of your hair. I'm going to twist my hair up as tight as possible and then just wrap it tightly and tie it up in a hairband.

6. Add your bundles

Next, you've got your bundles. When it comes to curly hair, a natural wave is my absolute favorite, hands down.

Get your first bundle and fold it once. Take one side and put it on top of your bun, get a hairpin, and secure it there in the back. Then, bring it around under the bottom of your bun and back around the top. Continue wrapping it and then secure it in its final place.

7. Add a second bundle

But we're not done - one bundle isn't enough to cover the bun. Grab a second bundle and follow the exact same process as before.

However, you do have to find new places for your hairpins to go. You can't double-cross them, or they'll just fall out. I'm going to do a double pin on the final bit to secure it, as I don't want it to unravel. Now, the sleek low pony is thick and voluminous!

8. Wrap around the tracks

From underneath your ponytail, you're going to grab a sizeable amount of hair. Then, you're going to use this to wrap around the tracks as much as you possibly can. Feel around where there might be tracks on show and cover them.

Once you've covered them, pull the section of hair slightly tighter so that it doesn't unravel, and then get another hairpin and secure it. The flat bit of the hairpin should be at the top, and the squiggly bit should be underneath.

Tip: Take your phone, go to video, and film the back of your hair to see whether you're happy with the way it looks.

You can bring the ponytail round to the front if you like, but I like it effortlessly draped down at the back. It gives me such boss-lady, kick-ass vibes.
