Tools and materials:

  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Cotton pad
  • Glue stick
  • Concealer
  • Foundation
  • Setting powder
  • Eyebrow spoolie brush
  • Small eyebrow brush
  • Eyebrow pencil
  • Brow powder or eyeshadow
Cleaning eyebrows with rubbing alcohol

1. Clean your eyebrows

Use some rubbing alcohol to remove any oil from the skin around your eyebrows and in your brow hairs. Be very careful to not get too close to your eyes with rubbing alcohol.

Using a glue stick on eyebrows

2. Glue down eyebrows

Starting just inside of the arch in your eyebrow, apply the glue stick in a swirling motion from the arch outwards, trying to coat all the eyebrow hairs.

Brushing eyebrow hair upwards

Use an eyebrow spoolie to brush the glued eyebrow hairs straight up.

Rolling the glue stick over eyebrows

Wait for your glued eyebrows to get a little less sticky, and then use the glue stick container to roll over your eyebrows, pressing down hard. Let your eyebrows dry until the glue is no longer sticky, and then let them dry a little more.

Applying setting powder to eyebrows

Once the glue is completely dry on your eyebrows, apply a layer of setting powder.

Then, using an upward motion, carefully apply another layer of glue. Let this second coat of glue dry a bit and then flatten it down again using the glue stick container as a roller. Let the second coat of glue dry completely.

Tip: If you want to, you can help the drying along by using a blow dryer.

If, after drying, your eyebrows still feel a little bumpy, smooth them out again with the rolling method. Repeat gluing, rolling, and drying as many times as it takes to get nice smooth eyebrows. In this tutorial, that took a total of 5 coats.

Once your eyebrows are smooth and all the glue is dry, set your eyebrows with setting powder once more.

Smoothing the edges of the eyebrows

Now, use a damp cloth or some rubbing alcohol to smooth out the edges.

Dabbing orange concealer onto eyebrows

3. Apply concealer

If your eyebrows are dark-colored, use some orange concealer (or even orange-red lipstick since you may not have orange concealer) and apply it lightly over any of the glued eyebrow hairs that are still visible.

Applying foundation onto eyebrows

Allow the concealer to set and then apply some foundation. Set your eyebrows with powder and add more foundation as needed. Add a little concealer over any remaining darkness on the glued eyebrows and set them one more time with powder.

4. How to do Spock eyebrows

Using an eyebrow pencil, draw on the basic Spock eyebrow shape. Make the inner eyebrows a bit lower than your natural eyebrow line and then draw a straight diagonal line up to the outer edge of your eye.

If you want to go all the way with the Spock costume, you can finish by teasing your hair, making a side part, clipping your bangs to one side, and tying your hair into a ponytail. Add some pointy ears for good measure!
