In this video, I will share my thoughts on my favorite curly hair brushes.

You will learn about different types of hairbrushes, differences in bristles, type of hair, and, most importantly, what type of hairbrush you should use!

Tools and materials:

  • Various hairbrushes
  • Leave-in conditioner
  • Styling gel
Dry detangling brush

1. Dry detangling brush

This brush combines hair and plastic bristles.

Dry detangling brush

This is my favorite choice to dry detangle my hair. It doesn’t pull on my hair, but goes through gently and smoothly.

Dry detangling is a good idea occasionally because it allows you to see the volume and length of your hair.

Tip: This brush needs to be cleaned regularly because the soft, hair bristles tend to hold on to product from your hair

Wet hair brush

2. Wet hair brush

I mostly detangle my hair under the shower, when it’s wet and freshly conditioned.

This brush is very flexible, which means that it really follows the curve of your scalp and provides a nice scalp massage.

The bristles on this brush are soft, so they don’t pull on your hair.

The back of the brush is open, which is what makes it flexible, but also makes it very easy to clean.

Styling hair

3. Styling your hair

You should style your curly hair in three sections.

Begin styling with an application of leave-in conditioner.

Then work in some styling gel.

4. Diffusing styling brush

Now it’s time to bring in a styling brush.

This brush is completely different from the previous two, with very hard bristles, but flexibility in the brush.

This works well to give your hair definition.

Here is another option for a hard-bristle styling brush.

This one doesn’t have the flexibility of the previous one, and doesn’t work as well for me.

You will have to try them both to see which works best for you.

This is how my hair looks after styling it completely with the flexible hard-bristle styling brush.

Favourite brushes

What type of hair brush should I use?

So there are my three favorite brushes. As I styled my hair, the bristles went from softer to harder.

Try out one or all these brushes and then leave a comment to let me know how you like these, or if you have found another brush to recommend!
