Here’s how to wear a pink gingham shirt in five different ways!

In this post...

Introduction:

I LOVE PINK!!! I especially love it in the spring and summer. I, therefore, thought it would be fun to showcase a long sleeve gingham shirt in a number of different looks. See which one(s) you would consider wearing.

Outfit Number One of the Pink Gingham Shirt Looks

This outfit may be my favorite! I love the look of a “summer suit”. This J Crew Factory white linen jacket was very useful in my wardrobe last year. Imagine my delight when I learned that it has been restocked for this year! (Here’s last year’s post with six more ways to wear this white blazer! In this look, I paired the white blazer with the classic gingham style of this shirt and wore white slim-cut cropped jeans as my pants. I added nude D’orsay pumps (similar, here) for a cute going to work or out to lunch look. Pro-tip: Nude shoes are so flattering on fair skin because it extends one’s leg line.

For the rest of my accessories, I added “diamond” stud earrings and these very fun silver beaded bracelets which were such a deal! My silver necklace was a Valentine’s Day gift from Mr. G.Q. The Kendra Scott necklace has three chains and a beautiful embossed pendant. My bag is a classic J McLaughlin wicker bag (similar, here) with a brown leather handle. Lastly, I couldn’t resist the white “cat’s eye” sunglasses to complete my look.

Outfit Number Two of the Pink Gingham Shirt Looks

So if you grew up in the 60s as I did, you might remember the decor colors of pink and avocado green. This second gingham check shirt look reminded me of that era. I paired the pink shirt with an olive green utility jacket (similar, here and here) as well as the same pants as outfit number one.

But in this second look, I added leopard loafers and a belt for a more early transition to spring look. I also found these olive green beads and the best brown cross-body bag ever. It’s by Patricia Nash and is a very efficient bag in that it sturdily holds all your IDs, phone, and essentials while still looking very stream-lined. What do you think of this color combination? I thought it was so interesting.

Outfit Number Three of the Pink Gingham Shirt Looks

In this third look, I paired this darling striped cardigan with the pink gingham shirt. The sweater reminded me of a varsity sweater and I especially liked the brown horn buttons. I thought the bold stripes dictated a larger tote to keep the scale consistent. I paired the sweater and pink gingham shirt with my favorite pair of skinny jeans by Wit and Wisdom.

With respect to the “right jeans” to wear, I believe you should wear whatever style(s) you prefer. The fashion world has been trying to eradicate skinny jeans for several years, and they’re still very popular. But, I think it’s fun to try different styles to see what else could be flattering to your figure.

For accessories, I again wore the silver beaded bracelets and the “diamond” earrings. My white glasses were playful and my last item were my pink-edged white Cole Hahn sneakers (simiar, here). Pro-tip: Have you heard the fashion expression “bookending” your look? This is where you have your top clothing item (such as your top or in this look, my white glasses), and you match the color to your bottom item, (my sneakers). Doing so, makes your look appear more cohesive.

Outfit Number Four of the Pink Gingham Shirt Looks

This fourth look allow you to see the whole pink gingham shirt. (If pink isn’t your preference, this darling long sleeve gingham shirt also comes in black and olive gingham.) Pro-tip: Always roll your sleeves for a more elevated look than keeping the sleeve cuffs buttoned.

Here I paired the pink gingham shirt with a pair of drawstring blue linen shorts (similar, here, and here). Then to pull the outfit together, I added a pink and blue print silk scarf to the handle of my wicker J McLaughlin bag (similar, here). I also wore espadrilles (similar, here and here) which are a somewhat French style of cloth sandal that typically has a bit of a platform sole. They are a VERY comfortable style of shoe.

Pro-tip: I always take my shoes to the shoe repair after purchasing them so as to have small plastic heel and toe plates attached to the shoe bottoms. This allow me to rewear my shoes for years. I have very tender feet, so if a pair of shoes is comfy, I want to save them for more wear!

Again I wore the white sunglasses, the beaded bracelets and the “diamond” studs. All these accessories are very simple and classic in their style, so they go with all different looks which is helpful when you are traveling and want to minimize what you are packing.

Outfit Number Five of the Pink Gingham Shirt Looks

In the fifth and final look, I paired a medium wash jean jacket with the pink gingham shirt, the white pants, and the same white sneakers (similar, here) from above. I added a small hot pink cross-body bag (that comes in 23 different colors). Again I wore the same sunnies, bracelets, and earrings. I added a hot pink patent leather (similar, here) belt for fun!

In the photo above you can see a bit of a close-up of my great silver tiered Kendra Scott necklace. I love how it fills in my neckline and it also come in a gold finish.

There you have it folks. Five different ways to wear a pink gingham shirt for spring and summer. Which outfit is your favorite? Please comment below or DM me @drjuliemarshall.
