BEACH HOLIDAY OUTFITS FOR HOURGLASS FIGURES

Any holiday is an excellent opportunity to trial a capsule wardrobe, plus there's always so much cute stuff in the shops for summer vacations! I like to dress up in plenty of flowing maxi dresses for beach holidays, as it always feels like you can go that little bit more glam than you usually would for dinner. Just remember to pack the insect repellant! I got bit at least 17 times on my recent trip to Greece...

Those of us with hourglass figures may wish to emphasise our shoulders rather than our legs when choosing dresses - though I'm not saying we have to! If you are more comfortable with this style, a halterneck midi or maxi dress is perfect, especially if you belt it to emphasise your beautifully proportioned waist. The shimmery satin material of this Ted Baker dress catches the mediterranean sunlight perfectly! (This season's version linked.)

For relaxing beach holidays, you only need a maximum of 3 bags: a beach tote, a casual crossbody for exploring, and an evening bag for dinner. I chose an inexpensive straw bag from Amazon which has a detachable strap, so worked for both exploring and dinners in the evening, cutting down on space while packing. The instinct is to go full glam with a dress like this and pair it with heels, but it looks equally beautiful dressed down with a pair of flat shoes such as my Dune loupe sandals in tan.

I found these gold mirror sunglasses for £1 on Vinted. They're not a timeless accessory - tortoiseshell or black is much more classic - so I didn't want to spend a lot of money on them but I wanted to try out the look. I've actually worn them more and found them more versatile than I expected, so maybe I will invest in a better-quality pair at some point. (Similar pair linked.)

I actually did not end up taking this New Look crochet beach dress on holiday, because when I saw it on myself on camera, I realised that the gaps in the material stretched over my wide hips and thighs and emphasised a part of my body that I prefer materials to skim over. If you are an hourglass who is a big fan of their curvaceous hips, go true to size in crochet dresses or dresses with stripes, but if you prefer your hips not to look any bigger than they are, size up to avoid the material stretching over that area.

As an hourglass, I have thicc legs (are we still using that word?) and have avoided shorts for most of my life. But I am now fully of the opinion that it depends on the shorts! An almost a-line style that is fitted on the waist but looser around the thighs is best for me ( similar version linked). I love how light blue denim, white clothing and tan accessories all look together - I find it so summery!

I've worn the gold mirror sunglasses again here as you only need one pair when you go on holiday. I've added my tan Loewe belt to match the shoes to keep it nice and cohesive but if you want a more relaxed holiday look, you could remove the belt, untuck a portion of the shirt and unbutton it a little to show off beautiful swimwear underneath. However, if your aim is to honour your hourglass figure, the first version of this outfit is best as we hourglasses always look best in casual looks that are a little more polished.

This black dress with tassel detail is an absolute showstopper when it comes to showing off your hourglass figure. It manages to both disguise and draw attention to our voluptuous legs at the same time - very clever! And it's a short dress, making it very comfortable in warm weather, but the tassels make it look longer and more elegant. Of course the cut-out detail at the waist emphasises our curves beautifully too.

I paired this dress with that same envelope straw bag (strap removed this time) and a pair of heeled black mules I already had in my wardrobe. Oh, and a glass of prosecco of course!
