How to DIY a Super Fabulous Feather Slap Bracelet
Today, we’re making a feather slap bracelet that’s high-impact for low effort! All you need are slap bracelets, needle and thread, and a boa! Let’s get started.
Tools and materials:
- A boa
- Slap bracelets
- Sewing materials
1. Spray paint your slap bracelets
The slap bracelets I got are metal slap bracelets covered with nylon fabric on the outside. This allows us to anchor in at certain points to sew them down.
The silicone ones might be stronger, but they’re very hard to sew through so that’s something to consider.
I spray-painted two of them black because I’ll be using a black boa and I want the slap bracelet to disappear.
2. Cut your boa to size
The most important tip I can give you is to double the length of your boa, so you can fold it in half and it’s twice as fluffy and twice as luxe.
This is what’s going to make it look high-end instead of cheap and lame.
When you’re cutting through any boa or fur, make sure you pull all of the feathers out of the way by separating it to the right and the left so you’re only cutting through the internal rope and not creating any blunt edges.
3. Sew the boa to the beginning of the bracelet
Make sure your thread matches the color of the boa and bracelet you’re using.
Also, double-check which direction your slap bracelet goes so you don’t accidentally attach it to the wrong side.
Here’s how I recommend sewing.
Start by going up through the bottom of the bracelet and go through the internal rope of the boa. Going through the heart, or the rope of the boa will ensure it’s really strong and tacked down.
So, you’re going through the bottom, into the rope on one side, through the rope on the other side, and then back down through the boa again.
Remember, because the boa is folded in half, one side has two ends and the other side has a loop, so you want to go through both pieces.
4. Sew the rest of the boa to the bracelet
For the rest of the bracelet, do looping stitches. Start two inches down and go through the slap bracelet.
Turn your needle parallel to the slap bracelet so it goes right across the top of the two ropes, bolding the boa in place without having to tack down the feathers.
When you pull it through, all that excess thread is on the backside. I did about five stitches, and that’s it.
Once you’re at the end, do the same thing that you did at the beginning of the previous step.
5. Knot it off
At the very end, create a little stitch, put your needle through the hole, and pull tight.
Grab that stitch again, pull the needle through the hole you made with the thread, and pull tight. Now it’s fully secured.
Here are some fun ways I styled these feather bracelet cuffs!

The feather cuff bracelet is super secure and super versatile! They work super beautifully on anything long-sleeve and the tighter the sleeve, the better.
