DIY Free People Inspired Boho Necklace

If you’re anything like me, I just love statement jewelry. I love how just a piece or two can really add a huge element to an outfit and I love collecting unique pieces from places or events over the years. This one in particular, was inspired by the Free People, gypsy aesthetic that I’m absolutely loving right now. Today, I’m going to make a fringe boho necklace and I’ll show you how.
Supplies:
- A Pendant Bead you like. I got mine from a broken choker.
- 3-Inch Metal Ring
- 11 yards of silky cord
The Process:
First, start by wrapping your metal ring with black cord. Keep wrapping it until there is no metal showing through and knot the two ends together.
Next, string one end of the leftover cord through your bead/ pendant so it hangs in the center of your ring. Tie a knot on the backside to secure it in place:
Cut a smaller piece of cord to secure the pendant from the bottom also (if there is a hole.)
You should have plenty of cord left over. Measure about how long you want your fringe to be and cut the remainder in strips. Begin wrapping and tying them to the bottom of your metal ring to create a finished, tassel look. Once you are completely done, feel free to trim them to create the look you want. Personally, I like mine long and a little more dramatic.
Add a slipknot to the long cord that wraps around your neck and you are all set! This quick and easy jewelry project looks expensive and took just a few minutes. As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!
