Easy Wash Day Routine: How to Do a Wash & Go on Type 4 Natural Hair

Hey beautiful ladies! Today, I’m going to show you my wash and go for type 4 natural hair! This beautiful wet look keeps my hair feeling moisturized and fabulous. Keep reading to discover my secrets on the best wash and go products for type 4 hair.
Tools and materials:
- Wide-tooth comb
- Shampoo
- Deep conditioner
- Heating cap or shower cap
- Clips
- Intensive conditioning treatment
- Hydrating cream
- Repairing leave-in conditioner
1. Rinse and comb
Before we commence, it’s best to rinse your hair and eliminate any by-products such as gel. It’s really best to start on a clean canvas.
Then, detangle your hair with a wide-tooth comb.
2. Shampoo your hair
I use a shampoo with an argan oil base, which adds moisture and shine to my dry hair. Give your scalp a good rub when shampooing to get all the products out.
I also use this handheld wide-tooth comb and rub it on my scalp for that extra clean.
Rinse your hair afterward.
3. Condition your hair
My hair is pretty dry and really needs a good conditioner. So, here I’m using my very own DIY deep conditioner that contains amazing, natural ingredients.
Apply the conditioner throughout your hair. It also smells so good!
Then place a shower cap on your head and wait for 20 minutes to let the moisture seep into the hair shaft.
Tip: A heating cap would be a better option for this step, but mine broke.
4. Wash your hair again
Give your hair a good wash. I usually wash more thoroughly the second time, as my DIY deep conditioner contains ingredients such as avocado chunks. So, I want to make sure it's properly washed out of my hair!
5. Section your hair
So, one of the key elements for a good wash and go natural hair routine is to section your hair. This ensures that the product is distributed evenly throughout your hair and soaks well. I sectioned my hair into 4 pieces.
6. Add products
Now it’s time to add all the products for that lovely wash-and-go look. I’m starting with an argan oil intensive conditioning treatment. Not only does it moisturize my hair, but it also prevents hair breakage.
Work section by section and add a good amount of product as you go along.
Be sure to run your fingers through your hair while applying the product.
Next, I apply a Moroccan oil hydrating style cream. It is more on the expensive side, but it works wonders. You can also skip this step if you don’t have it.
I add a little product for this step; you really don’t need to smother your hair with this product.
The third product I use for my type 4 natural hair routine is this lovely hydrate and repair leave-in conditioner. It helps restore moisture on extremely dry and brittle hair (like mine). This product smells so good, too. It’s one of my favorite smelling products by far!
7. Braid your hair
Once you’ve applied all the products, go ahead and braid your hair. Like this, the product will actually seep in.
Then, move on to the rest of your sections, repeating all the steps as shown above. This is what my hair looks like when I’m done adding products to each section.
It’s best to let the product sit in for a while; even overnight would be ideal.
Next, undo your braids and comb your hair, also adding some volume to the top.
Wash and go on type 4 natural hair
Here’s the finished result! I love this look: it’s fresh and makes my hair look well-nourished! I hope you enjoyed my wash and go for natural hair routine. I swear by it, and the results come out perfect every time! Good luck!
