In this tutorial, I’m going to show you four different workout hairstyles you can wear dancing, to the gym, or in any activity that you like to do. All of these hairstyles are cute but also practical. Let’s get started.

Tools and materials:

  • Hair ties
  • Bobby pins
  • Hair clips
Hairstyle 1: Bubble ponytail

Hairstyle 1: Bubble ponytail

1. Put your hair into a high ponytail

Do a high ponytail.

2. Wrap a strip of hair around the elastic

Take a thin strip of hair from the bottom of your ponytail and wrap it around the hair elastic to hide it. You don’t want that to be visible.

Use a bobby pin to secure it.

3. Wrap hair elastic around your ponytail

Take a small, rubber hair elastic and wrap it a little bit down your ponytail.

4. Fluff it up

Pull on the hair above the elastic so it’s fluffy and round.

5. Continue making bubbles

Continue making bubbles all the way down your ponytail.

Hairstyle 2: French braid bun

Hairstyle 2: French braid bun

1. Section your hair

Start by separating out the top of your hair from your ears to your crown.

Clip it away, since we’re going to work on the bottom of our hair first.

2. Comb your hair up

We’re doing an upside-down french braid with this. Flip your head upside down and comb all of your hair up.

3. Section hair at the nape of your neck

Take hair from the nape of your neck and separate it into three.

4. Braid the bottom portion up

Braid up like you would any other french braid. Take hair from the sides every time you braid and slowly make your way up your hair.

As you’re working your way towards the crown, incorporate all the hair that isn’t currently tied up in the bun in the front.

Hairstyle 2: French braid bun

You should end up with something like this. Tie off this braid for now with a hair elastic.

5. Braid the front portion back

With the front portion of the hair, french braid from the front to the back.

I’m incorporating my bangs in this one and braiding until I reach the top of my head.

6. Tie the braids together

Tie the top and bottom braids together with a hair elastic.

7. Twist the ponytail into a bun

Of course, you want to see all of the hard work you just did on the braiding.

So, twist the ponytail into a really simple, twisted bun and tie it with another hair tie.

Tie them together using a hair tie.

3. Pull your ponytail through the gap

Loop your ponytail through the top of the little gap above the hair tie just once.

It should look like this.

4. Repeat steps 2-3 until you reach the nape of your neck

Repeat steps 2-3 by pulling hair from the sides and tying each ponytail over the last, before looping the ponytail through the gap.

Keep doing this all the way down your hair until you reach the nape of your neck.

5. Tie off

For the last ponytail, tie everything off into one big ponytail.

Cover the hair tie with a small strip of hair like we did in the first hairstyle. Then secure it with a bobby pin.

Hairstyle 4: Braided bun

Hairstyle 4: Braided bun

1. Part your hair

Split your hair down the center and the back of your head as well. Clip away one of the sides for now.

Hairstyle 4: Braided bun

2. Dutch braid both sections to the nape of your neck

Now, we’re going to create a dutch braid with the remaining hair.

I’m starting at the very front because I have bangs, but you can start a bit further down if you prefer.

A dutch braid is the same as a french braid, only instead of bringing the sections over, you bring them under each other so the braids end up lying on top of your head.

Keep adding hair from both sides just as you would with a french braid, and braid all the way down to the nape of your neck. Tie it off with a hair elastic.

Hairstyle 4: Braided bun

Repeat on the other side.

3. Twist the ponytails into buns

Make buns with each ponytail.
