Tools and materials:
- Blue silk
- Ribbon
- 1-inch plastic headband
- Hot glue gun
- Scissors
- Sewing machine
- Needle and thread
1. Use ribbon to cover the headband
Apply hot glue to the headband and attach one end of the ribbon. Once secure, add more hot glue and wrap the ribbon around the headband.
Without adding any more hot glue, wrap the ribbon around the headband until you reach the end.
Once you reach the end of the headband, add hot glue to the remaining surface to secure and finish wrapping.
Cut off any excess ribbon.
2. Sewing three fabric tubes
You’ll need three strips of blue silk. Each should be approximately 3 inches x 18 inches. Start by folding your strip in half length-wise, then sew a straight line across the open edge.
After you’ve finished sewing them closed, turn them right side out and hand sew them together on one end.
3. Braid
Three-strand braid the sewed-together strips
Sew together the ends to finish the braid.
4. Sew the braided strip onto the headband
Start by sticking the end of the headband into the end of the braid.
Use needle and thread to attach the headband. This is best done by sewing the silk and the ribbon together.
5. Wrap the end of the headband
Use a short strip of ribbon to wrap around the end to finish the braided headband.
All done! Here’s the finished headband.
